Steve Kim is an Oxford-based artist and illustrator. Born in Seoul, Korea, he immigrated with his family to the states at early age where they settled in Mississippi; he received his undergraduate degree from Art Center College of Design in 2006 and his masters from Claremont Graduate University in 2010. His work uses selective composition and focus to direct attention towards solely towards the important aspects of a scene resulting in pieces that appear fleeting and transitory, flashes of intimate memories that recall personal pursuits.
He has exhibited internationally and domestically including shows in Korea, London, Lost Angeles, and New York. His illustration portfolio includes clients such as California Sunday Magazine, The Outline, FRAME, and Adobe and his work has been featured in publications such as Quiet Lunch, New American Paintings, and Beautiful Decay. In addition to exhibitions and publications, he has also completed residencies at Red Bull Arts Detroit and Smiling Gecko in Cambodia.
